  • AHRC
Music is offering two PhD AHRC Block Grant studentships for 2010-2011.
  • Rylands Achievement Awards
£500 towards fees for Manchester graduates with first-class degrees undertaking an MA in the School.
  • MA Scholarships for Overseas (non-EU) Students
The School has a number of £2500 scholarships for Overseas (non-EU) MA/MusM students, awarded to applicants of exceptional merit.
  • Overseas Research Student (ORS) Awards
The UK Government scheme has now finished, and so the School of Arts, Histories and Cultures has introduced its own scheme to replace it. The School offers up to two awards, paying the difference between Overseas fees and Home/EU fees, to PhD candidates of
exceptional merit. Students will also automatically be entered into the competition for internal bursaries offered by the School.

    >>Application process <<
Candidates for the various awards will be ranked by a Subject Area panel on the merit of an application form that includes a record of achievement to date, references, and a statement of purpose (for MA) or research proposal (for PhD). The deadline for all awards is 15 March 2010, but early communication with the prospective Programme Director (at MA level) or supervisor (at PhD level) is essential. In order to be considered for an award, students must first have been accepted onto the relevant degree programme.
